This is 100% genuine Turkish color change diaspore from the Milas District in Muğla Province, Turkey. Diaspore has been found in several locations around the world, but the Küçükçamlık, Büyükçamlık and Akçakmak Hills of the İlbir Mountains in Turkey are renowned for producing rare, high-quality, color change material that is treasured for use in gemstones. This specimen is diaspore from that location.
Diaspore is a hydrous aluminum oxide with the chemical formula of AlO(OH). Gem-quality diaspore is generally transparent to translucent and has a vitreous to sub-adamantine luster.

Genuine color change diaspore will show a range of colors under different sources of light. It is green under a white LED light source, and it changes to a light purple color under incandescent light. It is yellow green in daylight and can look clear or whitish.
